WARWICK BISLEY B Eng (Mech) (Hons), FTSE, FRACI, FIEAust., NON-EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN
Warwick Bisley has over 35 years experience in the petrochemical industry in Australia, USA and Asia. A graduate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Melbourne, Mr. Bisley has spent his whole career with Esso/Exxon companies. He started as a Mechanical Engineer with Altona Petrochemical Company (APC) in 1966, and served in various positions through to Plant Manager from 1975 to 1979.
In 1979 he was transferred to Exxon Chemical’s headquarters in Connecticut, USA. In 1982 he became Asia Pacific Specialties Manager located in Hong Kong and in 1986 relocated to Tokyo to become General Manager of Exxon Chemical’s Asia Pacific Polymers business. In 1990 Mr. Bisley returned to Australia as Chairman and CEO of Exxon Chemicals Australian interests. He was instrumental in the rationalisation of Exxon Chemicals olefins, polymers and elastomers businesses at Altona (APC, Commercial Polymers, ASR) to form Kemcor. He became the first Chairman of Kemcor.
He held many senior management positions and served as a board member of several Exxon Chemical affiliates, including General Manager for Exxon Chemical Polymers, President of Exxon Chemical Japan and Chairman and CEO of Exxon Chemical Australia Limited. Mr. Bisley has also served as a board member of a number of industry associations including the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) and Chairman of the State Training Board of Victoria.
Mr. Bisley was active in the petrochemical industry association (ACIC) and helped to lead its consolidation with the Plastics Industry Association and the Chemical Specialty Manufactures and Importers Association to form PACIA in the early 1990’s. He served as President of ACIC prior to the consolidation, and as President of PACIA following its formation. In 2003 Mr. Bisley was awarded a Centenary Medal for service to Australian society in chemical engineering.
In the mid 1990’s he was assigned as Managing Director and CEO to implement Exxon’s multi-billion dollar petrochemical project in Singapore. In this role he was responsible for planning, project execution, staffing, startup and operations of the US$2 billion petrochemical complex, which produces 800 kt/a ethylene, 485 kt/a polyethylene, 315 kt/a polypropylene, 150 kt/a INA and 155 MW of cogen power. Mr. Bisley retired from Exxon in 2001
Mr. Bisley’s serves as Chairman of the Tassie Shoal Methanol Project joint venture between MEO and Air Products and Chemicals Inc., and serves on the Company’s Remuneration and Nomination Committee. His extensive experience in the petrochemicals industry will be essential in helping to drive the Company’s methanol and LNG production projects to successful completion and operation.
CHRISTOPHER HART FAICD. MANAGING DIRECTOR
Christopher Hart began his professional career in the health sciences field. He has lectured extensively and acted as a board member of various corporate and civic bodies. Over the past fifteen years he has been actively involved in the upstream oil and gas industry, serving as a director for a number of junior companies, including Bass Strait Group NL, Octanex NL, Cue Energy Resources NL and Natural Gas Australia Ltd. He has consulted directly to various oil and gas companies including Cue Energy and Boral Energy Ltd.
The primary focus of Mr. Hart’s activities for these companies was in the area of gas marketing and the identification of the most appropriate mechanism for the commercialisation of gas resources. These activities led to repowering and privatisation proposals for various power stations and related upstream development scenarios for the Yolla gasfield.
Mr. Hart co-founded Timor Sea Petroleum NL (now MEO Australia), who was original tenement holder of the Evans Shoal gasfield, and has served on the board since 1995. He has also served as Chairman of the company’s Audit Committee for the same period.
Mr. Hart has been instrumental in developing the Company’s gas-to-liquids and upstream projects and manages each aspect of their development.
ANDY RIGG BSc.(Geol.) BSc.(Hons) DMPES, MAAPG, MAICD, NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Mr. Rigg was a Director of Natural Gas Australia Ltd and now MEO Australia Ltd. He is also Program Manager with the Australian Petroleum Co-operative Research Centre (APCRC).
In 1970 he joined Esso Australia and after managing exploration programs in the Bonaparte, Abrolhos, Gippsland, Otway and Galilee Basins, became Geological Manager in 1981. In this position he had joint responsibility for all of Esso’s exploration and development geology activities in Australia. He left in late 1981 to take up the position of General Manager Exploration for Santos Ltd a position held until early 1985 when he joined Ampolex Ltd as General Manager-Exploration.
At Ampolex he supervised all of the company’s exploration activities in Australia, PNG, other S E Asian areas, the USA, North Africa and Latin America, and served on the company’s Executive Committee in its role as the Leadership and Investment Management Team for the company.
In his position as Program Manager for the APCRC, Mr. Rigg is managing the GEODISC research program, designed to investigate the technological, environmental, and commercial feasibility of geological sequestration of carbon dioxide in Australia. It is a four-year multi-disciplinary program which commenced in July 1999, and which is supported by major gas producing companies together with the Australian Greenhouse Office.
Mr. Rigg serves on the Company’s Audit Committee.
Mr. Rigg is in an excellent position to provide to the Company and its various projects advice regarding greenhouse gases issues and ‘best practice’ for the management and mitigation of all related matters.
NICHOLAS HEATH, B.Eng. (Chem.) (Hons), NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Mr Nicholas Heath was appointed to the Company’s Board on May 12, 2008.
Mr Heath has broad experience in Australian and international energy markets gained through senior management positions in ExxonMobil in Australia and overseas. Mr Heath has over 30 years experience in petroleum engineering, operations management, and gas and oil marketing. He was a Director of ExxonMobil Australia Pty Ltd, the holding company for all of ExxonMobil’s Australian assets and had specific responsibility for the marketing of natural gas and natural gas liquids throughout Australia. He also served as Chairman of the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA) between 1997 and 1999. His depth of experience and knowledge will bring valuable expertise to the Board of MEO Australia Limited
Mr Heath is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers and the Australian Institute of Management, and also serves as a non-executive director of Metgasco Limited (ASX: MEL), an Australian energy company developing gas reserves and power for the eastern Australian energy market.
GREG SHORT, BSc. (Hons) NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
On 14 July 2008, the Directors appointed Mr Greg Short as a Director, to fill a casual vacancy on the Board. Mr Short retired in 2006 following a 33 year career with ExxonMobil initially as a production and operations geologist in Australia and Malaysia before advancing to supervisory and management positions. In the 1980’s he managed Production Geoscience for Esso Australia through major developments of several Gippsland Basin oil and gas fields.
Mr Short spent the last 15 fifteen years in management assignments that included Exploration Manager for USA, Chad and Nigeria including 7 years in Angola as Geoscience Director. His career included participating in and/or managing major oil and gas projects in Australia, Malaysia, Chad, Nigeria and Angola from exploration through development and production start-up.
In accordance with the Company’s Constitution, Mr Short holds office until the next annual general meeting, but offers himself for election at this meeting in advance of the Company’s increased activities over the coming year.
